CARBON CONTENT

Generally speaking, there are several types of carbon steel plates: Different types depend on the carbon content, manufacturing method, thickness and application.

According to the carbon content, there are generally low-carbon steel plates, medium-carbon steel plates, high-carbon steel plates and ultra-high-carbon steel plates.

Low carbon: Carbon content 0.06% to 0.25%. Also known as low-carbon board.

Medium carbon: Carbon content 0.25% - 0.6%.

High carbon: Carbon content 0.6% - 0.95%.

Ultra-high carbon: Carbon content 0.96% to 2.1%.

It should be noted that as the carbon content increases, the hardness of steel increases, but the final plasticity decreases.

Carbon plates can be classified into thin, medium, thick and extra-thick types according to thickness.

The advantages and disadvantages of carbon plates

Performance

1. The raw materials for carbon steel are easy to find, so the production cost is usually low.

2. It features a solid structure, high ductility, easy processing, good wear resistance and strong versatility.

3. There are various thicknesses, sizes, grades and types to choose from.

4. It is an economical and efficient alternative to GI, GL and SS steel.

Disadvantages

1. High-carbon plates are sometimes difficult to process.

2. Relatively speaking, it has a lower aesthetic appeal and is more prone to rust and corrosion.

3. When the temperature exceeds 200 degrees, the wear resistance of the carbon plate will deteriorate.

4. If its hardenability is not handled well in this way, it is prone to deformation or cracking.

Carbon plates are commonly used in industries such as machinery, chemical engineering, petroleum, boilers, heat exchangers, and medical devices. For example, it can be used as:

1. Produce carbon steel Angle steel/coils/strips, formwork bases, scaffolding, mechanical parts, I-beams and other building materials.

2. Construction of Bridges, highways, buildings, ships, offshore structures, power stations, storage tanks, boilers, pressure vessels, etc.

3. General manufacturing of cabinets, enclosures, barrels, vehicle bodies, heat exchangers, condensers, steel repair, etc.

4. It is used as the base material for GI and PPGI steel.
